A Liturgy in Memory of the Fallen was held at the Church of Saint Efstathios in South Melbourne, and this was followed by a Protest March from Lonsdale Street to the Parliament of Victoria, where speakers addressed the rally.

The Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria and S.E.K.A. Victoria launched the book The Inconsolable Clock by Andrea Demetriou at the Greek Centre (168 Lonsdale St., Melbourne). The speakers were Damien Kingsbury, Professor of International Politics and Arnold Zable, author.

March from Lonsdale Street to the Parliament of Victoria to protest the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974.

The speakers at the end of the march included Costas Elisseou, the President of SEKA Victoria; Her Excellency Mrs Ioanna Malliotis, High Commissioner for Cyprus in Australia; Constantinos Procopiou, the President of PANSEKA; Nick Staikos MP, member for Bentleigh in the Victorian Legislative Assembly (Labor Party), representing the Hon Daniel Andrews, Premier of Victoria; Theodosis A. Tsiolas, the Secretary to the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus; the Hon Heidi Victoria MP, member for Bayswater in the Victorian Legislative Assembly (Liberal Party); and Graham Watt MP, member for Burwood in the Victorian Legislative Assembly (Liberal Party), representing Matthew Guy MP, the Leader of the Opposition, and Inga Peulich MLC, the Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs.

The speakers at the end of the march included Costas Elisseou, the President of SEKA Victoria; the Hon. Nikos Kougiales, Minister of Agriculture, representing the Government of the Republic of Cyprus; Her Excellency Mrs Ioanna Malliotis, High Commissioner for Cyprus in Australia; the Hon. Jenny Mikakos MP, member for the Northern Metropolitan Electorate in the Victorian Legislative Council (Labor Party); Constantinos Procopiou, the President of PANSEKA; and Graham Watt MP, member for Burwood in the Victorian Legislative Assembly (Liberal Party).

A cocktail dinner celebrating the successful conclusion of Cyprus’ first Presidency of the Council of the European Union at the Cyprus Community of Melbourne & Victoria, 495 Lygon St., Brunswick.

The evening included speeches by our guests His Excellency Mr Yannis Iacovou, High Commissioner of Cyprus to Australia, Ms Maria Vamvakinou MP, who delivered a message from the Prime Minister Julia Gillard, and Mr Peter McDonald, National Secretary/Treasurer for the United Nations & Overseas Policing Association of Australia.
